How to get to Puerto Morelos
Puerto Morelos is located just 25 kilometers from the Cancun airport, making it a quick trip for anyone who can get there.
There are several ways to get to Puerto Morelos from Cancun airport:
Taxi : If you are flying into Cancun, you will have no trouble finding a taxi to take you to Puerto Morelos. They will be waiting outside the airport. It’s probably the easiest way to get to Puerto Morelos from Cancun, but not the cheapest. You should expect to pay around $ 60.
Uber: There is no uber in this part of Mexico.
Private Transfer: If you prefer to be a bit more organized and don’t want to take public transport, booking a private transfer is a great idea.
ADO Bus: This is the cheapest option and the one I take (almost) always, especially if you are traveling alone or as a couple. The ADO bus is so easy to use, the buses are clean, run on time and it’s cheap!
Car Rental: Renting a car is a great option if you know you want to get around the area.

1. Snorkeling in Puerto Morelos
Just outside Puerto Morelos is the second largest coral reef in the world (Australia has the largest). If you love scuba diving or just want to dive into the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean, this is a great option.
Snorkeling in the Puerto Morelos Marine Park will give you the opportunity to observe healthy ecosystems with many types of soft and hard corals, as well as various small marine creatures.
A great place to spot stingrays or sea turtles, reef snorkeling is the best of the best snorkeling experiences.
Tip: Keep in mind that coral reefs are a vital part of the ecosystem, so it is highly recommended not to touch them.

It’s called Ruta de Los Cenotes, it runs west of Highway 307 on the southern outskirts of Puerto Morelos. You will see a large arch with the writing identifying the path. If you want to visit the Route of the Centers, you need to rent a car or book a tour.

4. Spend the day at the beach
There is no bad beach in Puerto Morelos! Puerto Morelos beach is wide, flat and beautiful. You can lie down and settle down almost anywhere. There are usually local vendors strolling the beach and selling fruit, food, pastries, jewelry, and other handicrafts along the main part of the beach.

It’s just a little further north on the beach and it’s a nice little place. It also offers massages and snorkeling trips off the beach club. They will charge you a small fee in addition to anything you buy to use their own beach chairs and umbrellas or palapas.

This is a nice new raised beach bar that will allow you to use their lounge chairs and umbrellas as long as you are a paying customer. It’s just a two-minute walk north of the main square.
Tip: in high season it is recommended to book a sunbed in advance as it is very busy.
5. Crococun zoo
What was once a crocodile farm, the Croco Cun Zoo is now a sanctuary for rescued local animals, located right on the highway at the northern end of Puerto Morelos. The guides will allow you to play with spider monkeys and hold baby crocodiles in your arms, just to name a few! The gardens are beautifully lush and you will feel like you are entering another world. At a reasonable price, this is a fun option for your family, especially if you want to learn more about local wildlife and ecosystems.
